What is it about football that makes millions stand and cheer
When their team scores a touchdown
In the coldest time of the year
They bundle up like pinquins from their heads to their toes
And sit through rain and ice an sleet
Or in a blinding snow
I'll admit I do love football, for I view it as life
I see myself as quarterback with the football being strife
I search the field for someone able to catch my pass
Before the linemen reach me and throw me to the grass
I feel the pressure coming and I search left and right
For someone I can throw it to who'll catch and hold it tight
My pass receiver is the Lord when he's in the end zone
No matter who distracts my view I see him alone
No matter if you win or loose when you're playing in life's game
Remember there is someone who calls you by your name
And says throw me all the burdens of your weary soul
Once you release them to me, trust me I'm in control
