A hair transplant moves healthy hairs from areas of thick growth to bald or thinning areas. Also known as hair restoration or hair replacement, it’s a surgical procedure performed by dermatologists (healthcare providers who specialize in the skin) and plastic surgeons. It’s typically for people who have already tried other hair loss treatments.

Before the surgery, you receive local anesthesia to numb the area of your scalp where the hairs will be moved. Your doctor may also give you medicine to relax you. Then your doctor chooses one of two types of hair transplant: follicular unit strip surgery or follicular unit extraction. With follicular unit strip surgery, your doctor removes a 6- to 10-inch strip of skin from the back of your head. They then set it aside and sew it closed. Your doctor may also use a technique called tissue expansion to add more thickness to the donor site before your procedure.압구정모발이식
Your doctor cleans the area of your scalp where the grafts will go and then numbs it with local anesthesia. Then they make small holes or slits in the scalp with a scalpel or needle and then put the follicular units, which are tiny groups of hairs, into the holes. They usually need help from other members of their team to do this. The process takes between 4 and 8 hours.
After the transplant, you may have swelling and some pain. You might also see a few new hairs grow where the grafts were transplanted. Eventually, your new hair will begin to grow in the same way that your natural hair does. Your doctor might also prescribe hair growth medications, such as minoxidil (Rogaine) or finasteride (Propecia), to improve your results and speed up regrowth.
A small percentage of people who have a hair transplant might lose some of their new hair a few months after the procedure. This is sometimes called shock loss and might affect the look of your new hair. It’s normal and it shouldn’t last long. Some people might also have an infection or inflammation of the scalp, called folliculitis, after their hair transplant. If this happens, antibiotics might help.무모증모발이식
It’s important to talk to your doctor before the procedure about what to expect and what the risks are. If you have concerns about your care or about the surgeon, contact the doctor’s practice or the Care Quality Commission (CQC). You can find information on how to raise a concern about a healthcare professional at GMC’s website.
